I'm not.
"My People" in the Republic base the entire reason for their mighty war machine on the idea that they're "liberating the people." If the average Republic citizen knew that it, like any other war, was a drive to control more territory and resources, they'd space all the Elders, sell all the warships and demand that everyone gets a house and enough food to eat.
Once the propoganda fails, the Republic fails.
Let me just clear up a few points here:
First, Pilot Vailatti's "people" are in the empire. As she so proudly loves to proclaim, she's an Amarrian citizen not a Republic citizen. She's Ammatar, not Minmatar. There's a huge difference.
Secondly, the Republic Fleet exists (as do the navies of the other major powers) to defend our people, sovereignty and territorial integrity against external threats. It is not used as an offensive tool to expand the power or influence of the Republic.
Thirdly, the comment regarding military spending could be said for any of the major powers. This is a false dichotomy however. It's entirely possible to provide for both the defense and the well-being of citizens. Furthermore, I doubt that anyone in the Republic, Federation, State or Empire would seriously advocate for completely dismantling the military and using that money for social spending alone. To do so would be an open invitation for another nation-state or multi-territory criminal organization to invade which would pretty much defeat the whole idea of attempting to raise everyone's standard of living.
I really do wish people who don't live in the Republic would quit with the lies about our citizens living in the streets, hungry, unclothed and uncared for. It's NOT TRUE! It's simply Amarr propaganda to justify their reclaiming. Sorry Pilot Vailatti, but we would most assuredly not be better off living as Vitoc addicted cattle under the "care" of your Amarrian masters, no matter how you try to spin it.
Once slavery fails the empire fails. What you want is irrelevant. What you've chosen is at hand. |
